So who uses on for track days? I've been looking into buying one but there are some many out there, I'm looking at the cheaper end of the market.. more specifically this one... HANS Device but does anyone have any recommendations? And what harnesses are you using with them? |

I'm in the same boat as you - I have a recaro pro hans seat and Schroth profi 6 harnesses
Would like to get one as I have a full cage but looking at the lower end of the market

I'm currently using one for hillclimbing. Ideally you need the hybrid harnesses or 2" as the 3" shoulder straps don't sit well and overlap into neck area.
If using an open face helmet a 17" tether is recommended and most company just ship with standard 18" one. Also don't forget the cost of hans clips which when I tried to get discount was flatly told no that's the cost from a few places.
Harness angles are also recommended to be a lot less than if no HANS device is used.

I was looking at the hybrid harness as the one to go for, I've had a 3" before and didnt like the way it rubbed around the neck area so when back to a 2"

What helmet are you using? Is it compatible for HANS device?
If not I think demon tweets so some helmet and HANS combos from around £500

I have a HANS helmet, I bough ta new one at the Autosport show this year, been using a motorbike helmet for years so decided to invest in a proper one for the job.

I use one with my 3" harness no bother. Yes idealy it would be better if you used the Hans type harnesses but tbh if your install is correct the shoulder straps will not fall off the hans device. I Also use a sparco pro adv seat which is a hans seat with the extra shape in the seat to accommodate the device. Having seen the difference in a shunt with and without a device I would always wear one, and tbh I would like to see them made compulsory on a track where harnesses are fitted!

I was recently in the same boat as you. after using a bike helmet for the last 2 years I decided I needed a proper helmet, I found an arai that fit me well and it has the HANS clips so i decided safety first and invested in a HANS sport 2 as an entry level HANS device. I've not used it on track yet but sitting in the car I think I'm going to need to re position my seat slightly more upright to make it comfortable. I'm already using a HANS specific Schroth harness because i find the 2" shoulder straps more comfortable than the 3"
