So i got the car back from my pals garage with the oil cooler and stat plumbed in, the turbo manifold rebuilt with new gaskets and he had also fitted the race technology dash i had got from another mini guy i know.  IMG_8916 by chrislewis001, on Flickr  IMG_8912 by chrislewis001, on Flickr  IMG_8914 by chrislewis001, on Flickr Along with the dash he had also plumbed in oil temperature and pressure but he reckons i should take it up to race technology in Nottingham as they will be able to get it to do more, plus as it was in a mini with no dash before the port to plug in to is a bitch to get out so maybe a new harness is needed. |

Mallory is great track that is underestimated by most, its simple layout its not to be overlooked.
We went there a couple of years a go and I loved it, its a really nice track to get stuck into.

One lovely looking Mini that! Great choice list of mods too. Recently had one of the new JCW minis and I was seriously impressed! These Minis punch waaayyy above their HP figures.

So after 6 years of being turbo'd, covering around 15,000 miles I made a school boy error and misread the dipstick while Cadwell.
Properly frustrating as I had been going well.
Waiting to hear what the verdict is when the engine is pulled out

Gutted to hear about the engine. I saw you pulled over I just thought you had gone off, does it look like there's much damage? did the other mini you were with get sorted? neither of you seemed to have had much luck.

Basically I turned in at Park and the engine went from sounding sweet to like a diesel. I then knocked it out of gear, put in back in while coasting and ended up near the goose neck so ditched it on the left of Mansfield straight out of the way. Engine hasent come out as of yet, but we have had the oil filter out which had sparkly oil. Best case is a reshell, oil pump and cooler and go again, worse case is a full build, but if that's the case I'm thinking of putting a stock bottom end back in as there are a couple of other turbo'd r53's that's are tracked on standard internals producing more power than mine. While the engine is out I'll be swapping the clutch and flywheel but also looking at newer turbos. Luke the grey Cooper s, he snapped a hub / wheel bearing, all in one piece on the minis. This also twisted a control arm! He ended up being picked up from the gates by a recover agent. In short no, neither of us had much luck that day |

Ahh mate gutted to hear this but. I like your thinking... always good to see these situations as an opportunity instead of a dark day. My 350z dipstick was impossible to get a clear reading from and I had worried about doing the same.
Hope you get it all sorted soon. Like the sound of a new era turbo. These new setups are insane compared to the older turbos like I have used on the Mazda. Feels almost NA power delivery these days!
