Owned this car 4yrs now and still enjoy it as my daily. Quick enough for me and looks I like. Its was a sloppy old boat until I was forced to change the suspension. I opted for the H&R Cup Kit 40mm drop (non coilovers) and also got it fully polybushed with Powerflex bushes. Such a huge difference and feels more stable. I decided to keep the car and use it on track, which I am yet to do until I have fitted other parts. I have replaced all 4 calipers for new units, as well as new Jurid discs/pads and Goodridge brake lines with copper piping. I have RBF600 fluid to go in. I joined Track Time on facebook and got chatting to a nice chap called Paul Harvey, who amazingly 'gave' me his old mk4 Golf track car which still had everything: big brakes, full cage, seats, coilovers, arb, strut brace, exhaust and more. Only thing was its a 1.8t so some parts I cant use but I am able to move on when I have stripped it. Massive thanks to Paul again. So far the car sits as a fairly standard daily until my house move is sorted, I'll have more time and space to make it a dedicated track car. So its a slow build unfortunately. But I will still attend events with the camera and hopefully meet other like minded people. Donor carTo be continued............

Looks a tidy example , Can I just say you lucky lucky sod haw did you manage to get given that , was there any structural damage or any impact on the cage , it's the one of my priorities to get a cage in mine whilst it's off the road , I take it the brakes have gone to 312mm discs ,which are a good upgrade over standard , if you haven't got one get a rear antiroll bar on it absolutely transforms the handling on them so much more fun being able to catch the back end when it lets go

Paul noticed that I had a mk4 and needed his gone as it was costing him storage so said I could have it if I collected it, which I did fairly quickly. Only damage is to the car, not the cage or anything else. In fact the cage is like new Yep 312mm fronts as mine are 288mm. It came with: full cage, seats, front arb, rear arb, kw coilovers, strut brace, 312mm brakes, Milltek exhaust, ko3s, air filter/pipe.....shame the intercooler and hoses got squished. Obviously most of that will fit straight on, so yeah... I am a lucky git. Happy too

I'm going for the toyosport (wellycooler) on the front of mine , I binned the aircon spaced the rad back about 15-20mm and the front mount will fit behind front bumper with all the grills in place and very minor modifications to back of the bumper keeping it discreet also enough room to fit a 13 row oil cooler up behind the crash bar . We did my mates bora first gives you some idea of the size of intercooler and how it fits Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's a big cooler, must make a hell of a difference. Looks spot on. I too am going to bin the air con, I never use it so pointless keeping it. Probably heavy too?
I was told to run an oil cooler before tracking car, tdi runs too hot on a track day. Also a track map. Guess any car could do with a cooler really.
Can't help but feel a 1.8t would have been better but I didn't wanna buy another car. 1.8t's really do shift when set up right. The donor was an AMD set up 220bhp, it was an M3 chaser apparently.
