Ok so I don't currently have a track car, I just use my wife's fabia vrs tsi if I book any days, I did have a ZR160 but sold it before using it. I don't have a mega budget so cars I'm looking at are around the £2500-£3000 sort of mark, here's a list of cars I have in mind( I don't want a Renault if I can help it)
Civic type r ep3 Suzuki swift sport Ignis sport Satria gti
Any feedback would be appreciated, I've had a satria gti and ep3 type r before so know what I'm getting into with them, I'm not hell bent on having something with big power, I'd rather just have something reliable that handles and stops well

Yea they've always interested me, my wife use to have a panda 100hp and I loved the little go kart feel about it, I just want something with that kind of feel again. I am also on the hunt for a kiwi yellow mk2 Ibiza gti16v if anyone knows of one. I currently drive a Mk3 golf gti 8v but it's more a show style cruiser than a track car, it's guna be sold to help with budget on the new car, kinda wish I'd just kept the MG ZR lol

I know of so many people that regret selling their track cars. I would love to see someone take on a Ignis project and make it into a track car. I reckon there is a lot of potential with it.... Just depends what the aftermarket support is.

r53 cooper s? REALLY go-kart-y and easy to get a few extra ponies out of, plenty to choose from. need to find a good one, but in my experience (130k miles) they're fairly robust. I kind of wish i'd kept mine and turned it into another track car rather than chop it in for £2k at the dealers

Yea I've looked at the cooperS My dad has a JCW Edition that he's had on a few track days, I've only driven it around Croft once but it went realy well
I've looked into the ignis route, not a lot of running potential unless you throw loads at a turbo or throttle body conversion but I suppose it's the handling that would make it all up

Is anyone running a C2 vts? Are they a modern day saxo vts or not as fun? My wife had a c2 vts for a couple of years , drove and handled well my biggest concern with it was I always felt the gearing was to short used to rev the tits of the thing all the while ,I think they could be fun on a shorter twisty circuit but struggle for pace on faster flowing circuits , they can be bought for peanuts now so could be a cheap option

I've done some research into the C2's and I'm not too keen on them now, I'm currently looking at an early Mini Cooper S, my dad has a JCW one and I've dropped into conversation that I'm looking for one, he's said he's unsure weather to keep his so I'm hoping he'll sell me it

Facelift ones just seem to be built better and make better power. If you want any advise on them just shout

Maybe try something different like a first gen Volvo S40 T4 200bhp, Citroen Xsara VTS, Celica T-Sort, Corolla T=Sport.

What's people's opinions on the old late 90's polo 6n 16v, yes there only 100bhp but there a very nibble little car, very rev happy and the engine's have amazing tuning potential, they can be bought cheap, parts are reasonable, plus there cheap to tax n insure for driving too and from track

The 1.4 16v 100bhp is a great little car, standard. Decent suspension, brakes and tyres I reckon it would be a right hoot.
